We are delivering the Department for Work and Pensions Local Supported Employment Initiative, supporting up to 163 people across County Durham. We are receiving referrals into this programme until July 2025 with support available until May 2026.
As of September 2024, we have supported 95 people into a range of employment opportunities from catering, education, retail, to sports and leisure.
Local Supported Employment is a voluntary support scheme open to people who:
- are aged 18 or over
- live in County Durham
- have a learning disability and/or autism
You may not use it if you are:
- supported on any other Department for Work and Pensions funded programme
- you are on a Supported Internship
“Without this, we would never have found a job for Sam and we are very grateful that he has been given a chance to prove himself.” – Parent
